Mark, thank you for the wonderful video. Extremely well done and informative. I am fortunate enough to live a few miles from one of the protected grassland areas in NY. One question: why do you have the shutter speed so high on these birds? I will have to try increasing mine and go with higher ISO. Love the narration and photos/video quality! Beautiful work – I’m subscribed!!

Your pictures and video are stunningly beautiful, and you’re narration paints the background. I referred to you as the Bob Ross of wildlife photography. Love your art!!!

I was blessed to see one fly over and it’s wing span was probably 4 feet wide. Also great other birds you caught on film.

Great video Mark, I see many snowys up here in Canada, yet the short eared is harder to find! Was wondering where this video was taken in New York? Thanks man!

I’m beginning to think Mark’s narration is my favorite part of these video clips. He makes being outside on a cold morning sound like you are seeing something very special is taking place. This was another gem.

I would love to spend maybe 3 days up in the Silverdale area together with you taking pictures. The closure of Borders does not help. I am in Canada. Hopefully, this will change soon, waiting for the Covid vaccine schedule and I can register with you for the adventure. thank you

Oh thank you so much! I just love snowy owls. The one sitting on beach looks like a female. Females have more black markings than males.

Hey Mark – Giant fan…… may I ask if you shoot your D850 handheld? I get away with murder on my D800, but the D850 is hard to shoot handheld. Be happy to pay for a video, or tutorial…..

A tip from a Canadian friend of mine, told me to wrap my scarf around the outside of the hoodie rather than the inside. That way less wind will swirl around inside your hoodie keeping your head and neck warmer.

Gorgeous images as always…love your videos. I live in NY and 40mins from the grasslands where you got the Shorties…I go every winter. I only had one really good day this season…good light and the owls came in close. I shoot with the Canon R5 and Nikon D850. So cool to see you were up here…yes…it is cold !
